Monday, April 18, 2016 - Stream Observations

General Information
  • Date: Monday, April 18, 2016
  • Time: 7:12 PM
Weather Conditions
  • Exceptionally clear and sunny with a light breeze.
  • Ambient temperature was approximately 81 °F.
  • No precipitation observed throughout the day.
Water Quality Observations
  • Stream was clear with very low turbidity.
  • Trash and brush were partially obstructing the channel downstream of the monitoring equipment, but before the Duck Pond.
Stream Stage
  • Water level was at the 10-cm mark on the measuring stick inside the culvert.  The approximate stage behind the weir was 31 cm (1.02 ft).
Stream Discharge
  • From the stage observations, the estimated flow rate was 4.6 cfs.
Other Observations
  • Both storm sewer outfalls near the LEWAS station were dry.
  • A female duck seemed to enjoy the presence of the monitoring team while she searched for food and explored the inside of the culvert.
LEWAS Data
  • Peak water temperature appears to be increasing in response to the increasing ambient temperature.
  • Recent drop in flow rate might be attributable to increased temperatures and evaporation.
